Database Development, Characteristics of
Electric Power Transmission and Distribution Construction
Very little research has been conducted describing the
purchases of goods and services, and labor force characteristics
(size, wages and salaries, local versus non-local hires,
housing preferences, spending habits, etc.). These characteristics
are important in understanding the local impacts of electric
transmission and distribution construction, and in construction
planning. EPR is maintaining and updating a unique database
on these characteristics.
Analysis of Visitor Spending Patterns, Hawaii
The Hawaii Department of Business Development and Tourism
has an extensive historical database on spending by visitors
on hotel, various retail categories, transportation,
food and beverages, entertainment, and miscellaneous,
by type of visitor and by county. An important question
for analysts and policy-makers is how changing visitor
target markets (including hotels appealing to higher-income
segments) would affect overall visitor spending. Using
the DBEDT database, conducted econometric analysis to
determine relationships between spending in various expenditure
categories (shopping, entertainment, transportation,
lodging, air, land, and water travel, etc.).
